Underwriting Changes
Recent changes to underwriting requirements mean greater
flexibility for you and your clients. Applicants aged 55 and
older are no longer required to have had a complete physical
within the past two years to be eligible for coverage.
Plus, newborns are eligible for coverage after a two-week
checkup with normal results, when applying as a dependent.
This doesn’t apply to child-only applications. Newborns are
still required to have a two-month checkup with normal
results for a child-only application. Also, new mothers are
now eligible for coverage at two weeks postpartum and no
longer require a six-week postpartum checkup.
Additionally, underwriting guidelines for Attention
Deficit HyperactivityDisorder (ADHD), asthma, and
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)have changed.
